Children of the Holocaust

To realize the first task i have decided to use Natan Abbe example.
                                                                                                                       2,May,1940

Here I am, another day, in this horrible and  unpleasent part of Lodz. It has already passed one month since we were forced to leave our houses to come and leave here, all of us, every single jew who lived happily in Londz, before they came and ruin it all up. I meen the German people, who arrived here, to Lodz the last September. It hasn't been the same since then. They inmediatly changed it all. They started stablishing Anti-Jewish restrictions and ended forcing us to live here, in this run-down part of the city. They have finished with all our rights, we were forbidden to congregate our religious services, we have been subject to curfew, our radios were confiscated, and we were forced to wear the yellow star. In addition,  we have been barred from most professions, and all of our communal institutions were ordered to disband. Yesterday, the German people closed up this ghetto were we are being forced to stay.
Me and my family aren´t any happy with our day by day. We are living in very bad conditions, there is no heat, little food and medicine, and inadequate sanitation. We can see people dead in the street from starvation, disease and exposure. I some times have to smuggle out this ghetto to go and find food for my family, because my parents and brothers are really starving some days.
Although we can still go to school and hospitals are available i would really do anything to change it all since German people arrived.

To kill a mockingbird

Writing task
Option 1

Here I am, always observing what this children are doing. I like to look after them, it is a way of being sure that this boys are safe. This boys are Jem and Scout, they are brother and sister and they are always playing together in summer. Today they were discussing about the reason that Jem had broken his arm when he was  thirteen. They had a long conversation and at the end they asked their dad Atticus a very respetable man in the town of Maycomb, he was a laser. As I said we al live in Maycomb, this town is a old town. Scout and Jem have got no mother because she died when Scout was still a baby. Instead they have got Calpurnia, their cook. For what i have heard Scout doesn't like Calpurnia too much. She has made descriptions of here a millions of times, her last description was "She was all angles and bones;she squinted; her hand was wide as a bed slat and twice as hard".

Today I have seen how they make friends of a boy they hadn't seen before. His name was Dill and he was from Meridian, Mississippi, and this summer he was spending it with his aunt. At the begining it didn't seem they would be good friends because Jem and Scout didn't seem to like this boy, but at the moment Dill mentioned he had seen Dracula he inmediatly made friend of Jem so Scout hadn't an other option than making also friend of him.  With Dill they liked to talk about me. They tolled each others the famous stories that they heard in town about me. I don't really matter about these. I like to see how they play. One day Dill dared Jem to go and knock the door of my house. After thinking it for three days he finally acceded to do it, in all this time i have been watching them he has never declined a dare.

Summer finished and Dill returned to Meridian. Scout is now preparing for her first day of school. Scout thinks school will be as if she was at home but she's got no idea what things can people learn when they go to school. I already had thought about the problems Scout could have at school but I had never imagined she would have problems with her teacher for the fact that Calpurnia had already taught her how to read and write. From my point of view the teacher of Scout learned more than her today. At lunch time, one boy of the classroom didn't have nothing to eat and Miss Caroline offered him money so he could buy something to eat. This boy was a Cunningham and as Scout told Miss Caroline the Cunninghams didn't accept money from other people because they didn't know if they could be able to return them their money. Scout was just going to rub Cunninghams nose in the dirt wham Jem came by and told her to stop. I was glad Jem had arrived because I didn't want Scout to be in more problems. Jem knew the Cunninghams were good friends of his father so they invited him to go and have lunch with them.

I was glad that everything was more or less fine for Scout and Jem. The only think that makes me feel nervous is that Scout has as a classmate an Ewell. I don't like seeing Scout so close to him because I know how he and his family are.

Gendered identity

How does society affect gendered identity?
It affects our gender identity by telling us what roles we are supossed to play. Men are supossed to be the tough guys, who can handle any situation. Women are supossed to be weaker than men.

How is language affected by gendered identity?
In some languages such as in English it is reflected the power that men have historically held in many areas of life. This social power is reflected by treating words reafered to women as changed words and words that refer to men are those considered normal words. For example actor, actress.

Create an example of your own
Men dont see good if another men calls them girls becuase when they call them that they think they are saying them that they are weaker.

Writing task 3

1- Do we change our identity when we wear different clothes, for example, when we are not wearing our school uniform?
I think that in a way it does afect our identity because i think that people feel better wearing their own clothes and this fact i think that makes people more confident and this in a way affects peoples identity in the way they act or in the way they talk.

2- Do we change our way of speaking?
Yes i think that it can change the way people speak because i think that if people feel better with the clothes they are wearing in some way they may also be in a better humor and this can make people talk more or it may happen that people tell more jokes.

3- How do our clothes represent our identity?
Clothes represent our identity because the way we dress up also represents the way we are. For example a shy person usually doesnt wear clothes that could call the atention of people. On the other part people who like to call peoples atention may wear more striking clothes. Those are the reassons that i think that make clothes represent our identity.

Letter to the editor

Dear Editor,
I am writing you this letter to inform you about the changes that have taken place at Animal Farm. I will commence explaining the message taht Old Mayor wanted to transmit to the other animals before dying. In his last speach, Old Mayor wanted to explain to the other animals the way humans were using them and how they used animals work for their own benefict. I regret to inform you taht after this speach Old Mayor died because of a gunshoot.
After this all animals seemed really motivated to make a change and started the revolution. They were capable of expulsing humans of the farmfor some time and started making a "reformation". They stablished a new leader, Snowball and begun following the rules taht Old Mayor stablishe in his last speach wich bases were that no animal could use others animals work or other's animals products for there own benefict. These can remind us of comunism.
What then happened was that the other pigs also wanted to lead and to have the control of the farm so they decided to eliminate Snowball because they saw him as a threat. Here starts a fase in which the two pigs, progresively, start to see pigs benefict as a priority and then start changing the rules that Old Mayor stablished for there benefict. This is a example of totalitarism.
The fact is that the other animals start to find out what pigs are doing and realize that their behaviour was begining to remind them of humans behaviour. So animals now decide to start a revolution against pigs.
At the end of the film pigs die, this can remind us the fall of the URSS.

Animal Farm answers

1- I got a bit surprised of their decision of revolution because i didn't thought they would be capable of facing humans but i understanded them because the threat humans gave to them wasn't fair

2- Yes, i sympathize with animals because they deserved to have a better life for all the work they do and because its isn't fair that they do all the work and then don't even have food to eat

3- First of all rebellion starts when Old Mayor convinces the other animals that human is their enemy and they way the animals behave can remind us of humans behavior. The things they can remind us to humans behavior is like the way they stablished their leaders, the way leaders used the other animals  to obtain their own benefit and how animals felt bad about the decisions their leaders made

4- They say they need the nutrients of the milk to keep leading the farm. The other animals allow it because Napoleon really intimidates them. It suggest us how animals respect the decisions of their leaders (first of Old Mayor and then of Napoleon).

5- I felt bad about his expulsion of animal farm because the other pigs just decide to expulse him because they saw him as a rival and he hadn't made anything wrong because he was trying to make what all the animals wanted

6- Napoleon gets rid of Snowball, takes poppies away from their mother so he can use them as his guard and changes the rules or commandments so he can obtain a benefit of them. Under Napoleons leadership the decisions are only taken by the pigs with ought consulting the other animals.

7- Executions take place because the pigs decided to eliminate all those animals who they saw that could damage their power in the farm and at the time its a way of sending a message to the other animals that means that if they don't behave and do what they say them to do that is what will happen to them

8-I think that its fair that those who are more educated or more skilled have more influence in the decisions because that have better capacity to take this decisions but the problem is wham this persons start to look just for them and forget that their decisions are really affecting the other ones and are making them suffer

9- The power may change those who have it for many reasons but i think that the main reason is that they see all the things they can have in their hands and then become more avaricious and they progressively start wanting more

10- Yes, i think that pigs are more intelligent that the other animals because they were capable of leading and controlling them but the problem is that the dog ( who is also more intelligent than the others ) discovers what they are planning and advises the other animals, this is why pigs can't definitely have the control of the farm
